On 7 June, we received the news that the Advisory Committee for the 2025-2028 Multi-Year Policy Plan for Arts and Culture has positively assessed our application. They value our relationship with The Hague, our international profile, and our role in bringing international activists to the Netherlands. Despite some critical notes on innovation and diversity, the overall judgment is very positive, and they have recommended a grant of €300,000 for the coming years, which is significantly higher than the previous period, further highlighting the committee’s trust in our work.
We are proud to announce that this week, the Netherlands Film Fund has selected us as one of seven film festivals for a multi-year grant of €100,000 per year for the period 2025-2028. The advisory committee praises our strong core values, societal relevance, and in-depth thematic programs. Although the subsidy is lower than requested, presenting challenges, we remain grateful for the Film Fund’s support and will creatively manage the available resources.
We appreciate the extensive feedback from the Council for Culture on our application for the 2025-2028 Base Infrastructure. The Council recognizes our societal relevance and praises our reach in education. Although our core activities do not fully align with the specific article in the Regulation, preventing our application from being honored, we see this as an opportunity to sharpen our focus and strengthen our position within the cultural sector. We hope that future festival regulations will include room for thematically focused festivals, enhancing the diversity of the festival offerings.
We will use the feedback from various bodies to evaluate and improve our programmatic choices and strategies. Our dedication to organizing films and festivals that have a societal impact remains strong. We strive for innovation and depth in our offerings and will continue to work on our mission to raise awareness of human rights issues and environmental problems. We take the feedback from the Advisory Committee for Arts & Culture The Hague, the Film Fund, and the Council for Culture seriously and will actively work on improvements in diversity, inclusion, innovation, and experimentation.
With these positive evaluations, we can further strengthen our mission to create societal awareness through film. We thank the Film Fund and the City of The Hague for their trust and support.
