Justice Frame Masterclass
This year, the Justice Frame Masterclass focuses on recent developments in Venezuela, including the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro, and on the role international law can play within this complex context. We will be in conversation with international criminal law expert Marieke de Hoon and Venezuelan filmmaker Tuki Jencquel.
During the masterclass, we will engage in conversation with expert Marieke de Hoon, assistant professor of international criminal law, whose research examines international and national law in conflict areas. Her work delves into legal questions surrounding international justice, human rights, and state responsibility.
We will also welcome Tuki Jencquel, a Venezuelan filmmaker born in Caracas, with international training in film and television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. His films portray the lived experiences of people in Venezuela from a human perspective, including his earlier work Está Todo Bien, which was screened at Movies that Matter.
Notes from Caracas, the new short film by Tuki Jencquel (40 min), will be shown exclusively and for the first time during this masterclass as a special preview. The film offers a powerful and immediate perspective on everyday life and social dynamics in the Venezuelan capital during this recent turbulent period.
The Justice Frame Masterclass offers a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of developments in Venezuela through legal insights and personal stories, with ample room for reflection and discussion.
